Ginetta Is Gearing Up For The 2014 Race Season

The Ginetta factory is a hive of activity at the moment as we all prepare to go racing once again from next month, and it’s great to see teams, drivers and marshals getting excited about the season on all my social media channels too.

As PR for Ginetta Cars, I have been busy writing all our driver announcements across our four single-make championships; the Ginetta Junior Championship, Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge, and the newly formed Ginetta Racing Drivers Club and it’s a fantastic feeling knowing we have got an exciting year ahead of us.

It’s also great to be a part of a company who do so much for British Motorsport; over winter we gave a fully funded season in the Ginetta Junior Championship to a youngster named Alex Sedgewick, and our Ginetta Racing Drivers Club pretty much gives you EVERYTHING you need to go racing from just under £28,000 – a G40 Club Car (to keep) your race licence, test days and a lovely road trip to Le Mans.

We also went to Dubai to take part in the 24hour endurance race with the G55 GT3 car and Team LNT in honour of our late friend Cushty, whilst we didn’t win, we were presented with the ‘Spirit Of The Race’ honours. Well, I say ‘we’ went to Dubai, Ash and I went to Birmingham to take part in the Autosport Show which was slightly less warm but just as much fun – I lost count how many people I said ‘Happy New Year’ to – you sometimes forget how many friends you’ve made along the way.

Before everything gets going though, we have our Media Day at Silverstone on March 11 which we are all busy preparing for as it launches our championships and drivers to the press, and we have some very exciting names set to join us.

Ginetta feels as though it’s in a positive transitional stage at the moment, and we have a strong team who are working hard to make sure we deliver on all points and really live up to our reputation as one of the best British car manufacturers out there.

We are already looking at two television series and a short film on the company pencilled in for release over the next 12 months and it’s fantastic to see so many people outside the motorsport media taking a real interest in what we do here in Leeds.

Not many people are aware of this, but as part of our partnership with Michelin, I visit local schools prior to each BTCC round (at which we run support races) and give a careers assembly, where my underlying message is “You spend most of your adult life at work, so make sure you work towards getting a career you love.”

I am thrilled to say, I certainly have – who wouldn’t want to drive beautiful road cars, spend your weekends surrounded by fast cars and do it all with your friends by your side?

Bring on Brands Hatch.
